A
Place to Stand The
Greek Archimedes (287 BC – 212 BC) was the greatest
mathematician of his day.
His contributions in geometry revolutionized
the subject, and his methods anticipated the integral
calculus 2,000 years before Sir Isaac Newton.
He was a thoroughly practical man who also
invented a wide variety of machines.
He invented a Screw Pump revolving within a fixed cylinder for removing water from the hold of a large ship - an early prototype of the pump, the design of which is still used in various applications today. Archimedes
was once quoted as saying; "Give me a lever
long enough and a place to stand and I will move the
Earth!" God has given US a place to stand.
“For NO other foundation can anyone
lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1
Corinthians 3:11).
We take our stand on this solid foundation when
we obey Christ (Matthew 7:24-25): believing and trusting Him (Acts 16:30-31), repenting
of our sins (Acts 17:30-31), confessing
Him before men (Romans 10:9-10), and being baptized
(immersed) in His name for the forgiveness of our sins
(Acts 2:38). If
we continue to stand fast on this Rock through our
faithful obedience, we will never be moved (Psalm
62:2). And
from THIS foundation – the solid bedrock truth of
God’s Word – and with the lever of the Gospel
message, you and I can move the world for Christ. God
has given US a place to stand
– a place where we shall NEVER be moved! Are
YOU
standing on that firm foundation?
