Have It Your Way According to QSR Magazine, “Variety is the name of the game when it comes to pleasing today’s consumers. Digital cable offers hundreds of channels, satellite radio has hundreds of stations, and with the Internet, the possibilities are endless. Soon consumers might also have that kind of choice when it comes to beverages in quick-service restaurants.” Jamie Hartford reported in the same QSR article that the Coca-Cola Company is testing fountain drink technology that can dispense more than 100 branded sparkling and still beverages from a single freestanding unit. The technology enables customers to choose their beverages and flavoring(s) via a touch screen located on the front of the dispenser. * Burger King proclaims, “Have It Your Way.” Similarly, one of the marketing pitches for Coca-Cola’s new drink dispenser is “Drink it your way." These are catchy slogans, but as Brad Price** has pointed out, unfortunately these slogans reflect the way many people approach life in general, including religion and God Himself: “I want it MY way.” However, “MY way” is not “GOD’s Way”! “MY way” leads to SIN which separates us from God (Isaiah 59:1-2) and places us under condemnation of DEATH (Romans 6:23). It is ONLY through “God’s Way” that we can find forgiveness and eternal life (Ephesians 1:7). The world says, “Have it YOUR way,” and suggests that there are a variety of ways from which to choose, all equally viable. However, when it comes to forgiveness and eternal life, there is only ONE WAY: God’s Way! Brad Price states: “If we examine the Bible, we find an unusually strong emphasis on the word "ONE." Under the Old Testament era God selected just ONE special nation to be His people (this was Israel). When the church was instituted, God gave it a SINGLE foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11).” Even multiple religious bodies claim to have God's approval even though they espouse a variety of baptisms, faiths, Lords, and Gods (gods). In contrast, the Bible says: “There is ONE body and ONE Spirit, just as you were called in ONE hope of your calling; ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism; ONE God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” – Ephesians 4:4-6 Jesus set the record straight when He said, “I am THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). The Way of Salvation through Jesus is accessed by placing your faith and trust in Him (Acts 16:30-31), turning from sin in repentance (Acts 17:30-31), confessing Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and being baptized (immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). Then, as we “walk in the light as He is in the light,” then the blood of Jesus Christ His Son continues to cleanse us from all sin (1 John 1:7). The Saving Message is not “Have It Your Way”; it’s “Have It GOD’s Way.” Won’t YOU submit to HIS will and be saved today? David A. Sargent, Minister
