Marvelous Design

Benjamin Franklin was Ambassador of the United States to France.  While living in Paris, Franklin was a member of an elite literary, social, and scientific club.  At certain meetings of this intellectual group, atheistic sentiments were expressed, leaving the impression that only the superstitious and uninformed still believed in God as the creator of the universe.  At the next meeting of the group, Franklin brought a beautifully designed model of the sun and our entire solar system.  The earth and
the other planets were in their proper relationship to the sun and to each other and
of appropriate sizes.  It was a masterpiece.  Upon seeing it, one of the sophisticated members of the club asked, ‘’Who made it?”  Dryly, without the trace of a smile, Franklin responded, “No one.... It just happened.”

1) The universe contains tremendous order and design  2) Order, design and purpose in nature all imply a creative mind, an intelligent architect  3) Design demands a designer 4) The Bible reveals that this creative Mind, the intelligent Architect, the Designer of the universe is God.

The immense design found throughout the universe is one of the most compelling arguments for the existence of God. The Scriptures declare: "Since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse" (Romans 1:20).

God is a God of design -- not only in creating the universe, but ALSO in regard to His plan for our salvation.  God knew “before the foundation of the world” that He would one day send His Son to live among men, teaching them the ways of God, and then to die for the sins of the world (1 Peter 1:20; 1 John 2:2).

God ALSO designed the appropriate response to Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross.  Our response should be one of trusting faith (Hebrews 11:6), repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10), confession (Romans 10:9-10), baptism for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38), and a commitment for life to the One who died
for us (1 John 1:7).

The universe involuntarily operates by God-given laws of nature.  God’s design for our salvation requires voluntary submission on our part.

Will YOU submit to God’s marvelous design for your salvation?

God bless you!
