Pick and Save Thomas Norman of Spring Valley, California, reminds us of a common occurrence with a great application: This world will ever have at least one event that could cause a furious race to a given location; that event is known to us as a good old fashion “property sale.” It hardly makes a difference where the land sale might be, people will attend that affair struggling to, “Pick and Save.” The truth of the matter is that it is sensible to get something as cheaply as viable, and if at all possible getting it free is paramount. But let’s be mindful, land giveaways (whenever we have them) motivate horrendous stampedes of people scratching and clawing to receive any bit of real estate they can; the "Oklahoma land rush" taught us that. That land was a dust bowl then, as it well is today. For sure, man has applied an abundance of technology, to that area, striving to change the nature of that territory. However, it took an enormous amount of funds and effort to transform the land, making it something of worth, rendering the place much more costly than free. Norman then reminds us: “In this day there is only one thing that is truly free for all mankind … There is no need to claw or fight for a portion, for there is enough for all”:
“For the wages
of sin is death, What we “earn” by our sin is DEATH. If not forgiven, our sin leads to eternal destruction (see Matthew 7:13-14). But God desires to give us ETERNAL LIFE. This is the GIFT that He has offered to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus DIED so that we might LIVE (1 Thessalonians 5:10). His gift of salvation and life must be accepted on His terms: We must place our faith and trust in Him (Acts 16:30-31), turn from our sins in repentance (Acts 17:30-31), confess Him before men (Romans 10:9-10), and be baptized (immersed) in His name for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38). Then, as we continue to walk in the light of His word, His blood will continue to cleanse us from our sins (1 John 1:7). The wonderful Gift is there for us, but we must "Pick and Save," or rather, “Pick and BE Saved.” Won’t YOU choose to accept His gift of salvation on His terms? David A. Sargent, Minister
