The Purpose
The youth ministry at the Creekwood Church of Christ exists to assist families in the development of students in grades 6-12 into self-reliant Christians with a faith of their own who have the knowledge and motivation to glorify God with their lives. The youth ministry provides opportunities for teens to care for one another in fellowship, reach middle and high school teens through teaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified from the Bible, offer themselves in service to others, serve God through worship, and seek their friends through evangelism.
The Vision – Primarily through the efforts of the family as assisted by the youth ministry, the vision of a graduate is as follows.
- When a senior graduates from high school they will be redeemed Christians who love God with all of their being and live to glorify God.
- They will know that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. They will allow Him to be the Lord of their life.
- They will be
- A self-reliant Christian with a faith of their own who knows they are dependent upon God.
- A Christian with the perception that they are capable of performing a function for the Lord
- A Christian with the perception that they are significant – that what they do is important
- A Christian with the perception that they can influence what happens to them – their choices are theirs to make and they are responsible for the outcome of those choices

Job Description of the Youth Minister
Responsibilities
- Reach out to evangelize non-Christian teens
- Build up existing Christian teens
- Plan and execute activities that promote unity
- Teach Bible classes
- Interact with the family ministry
- Interact and communicate with the ministry staff
- Organize trips
- Work with VBS
- Direct a week of Bible camp
- Work with Lads to Leaders and Leaderettes
- Schedule activities
- Communicate clearly with parents
- Incorporate parents into activities and classes
- Advise teens on a personal level
- Safely supervise trips and activities
- Coordinate and work well with existing staff
Qualifications
- A faithful Christian
- A love for the Lord and His church
- A correct knowledge of the Bible
- A love for teens
- Ability to communicate with teens and their parents
- An understanding of the developmental issues faced by teens in the transition from childhood to adulthood
- An understanding of parental concerns
- Personal experience and understanding of family issues
- A degree in Bible and youth ministry from a Christian university
- Minimum of five years experience in a program of similar size to our ministry
- Married to a faithful and active wife interested in the teens
