Cristiano Piquet and a friend were riding
their paramotors last Sunday morning before going to church services
when Piquet noticed a splash in a Southwest Miami-Dade canal. He flew
around for a closer look and saw a woman clinging to a submerged car in
the canal.
Piquet made an emergency landing near the
canal and ran to the woman in distress. Piquet summoned a nearby
neighbor for help. The neighbor threw a rope to the woman and pulled
her to safety.
“So we threw her a rope, and she was
free, she was alive,” Piquet said. “Everything happened so fast, and
after we got her to safety, we called 911.”
Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units
responded to the scene of the crash. The woman was taken to an area
hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There’s no question that
she was grateful to have received “help from above.”
When we
were drowning in our sins, God saw our condition and sent His Son to our
rescue (John 3:16). In order to rescue us, Jesus had to give His life
on the cross to pay the price for our redemption from sin (1 Peter
3:18).
Jesus “gave
Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present
evil age, according to the will of our God and Father” (Galatians 1:4
NASB).
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that
while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 NKJV).
To
be rescued by Jesus, we must accept His offer of salvation. God will
save and give eternal life to those who place their
faith and trust
in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31), turn from their sins in
repentance
(Acts17:30-31), confess
Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and are
baptized into
Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). God will continue to
cleanse from sin those who continue to walk in the light of His Word
(1John 1:7-9).
When we desperately
needed help, God sent Jesus from above to rescue us. Won’t you accept
His offer of salvation and eternal life by trusting and obeying Him?
