Remember to Remember

For her sixth birthday, a little girl was going to get her ears pierced. But on the day of the piercing, nothing was going right. And so instead of being excited, she was growing increasingly sad.

Her mom noticed this and said to her, “Hey! What’s about to happen? And who are you going to be with? And what are you guys going to do after you get your ears pierced? Are you going out to dinner?”

As the little girl started to answer the questions, she started to smile and soon, gone was the sorrow. *

Do you want to have a better attitude and outlook on life? Then remember to remember. Remember and reflect on the blessings that God has given to you.

The greatest blessing of all is the gift of God’s Son. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Jesus and His atoning death on the cross is our greatest blessing because His death meets our greatest need (salvation from sin, Ephesians 1:7) and gives us the greatest life: abundant life now (John 10:10) and eternal life to come (Romans 6:23).

To receive the blessings of Jesus’ atoning death on the cross, we must place our faith and trust in Him (Acts 16:30-31), turn from our sins in repentance (Acts 17:30-31), confess Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and be baptized (immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38).  Then, God will continue to wash us from our sins by the blood of Jesus as we continue to walk in the light of His word (1 John 1:7-9).

We need always to “remember to remember” God’s grace.

Especially, we need to remember the grace of God as expressed when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

We also need to “remember to remember” God’s “every day” grace: the air that we breathe, the roof over our heads, the air conditioner (or heater) that makes our homes comfortable, the change of seasons, the food that we eat, our family and friends, and all the countless blessings from the hand of God (James 1:17).

Remember to remember God’s grace, and you will find yourself becoming a grateful person.
